Free Ad Placements - Sell your Items Online

Okay, start selling for Free! The previous post I placed outlines some Auction Sites. The auction sites charge you a fee for the listing and a final value Fee. This means it will cost you a few dollars. This can be costly if your listing does not sell. The most expensive being eBay.

So here is what you can do. Whether you are a brick/mortar store, working from home or wanting to start selling online:

You can log on to www.craigslist.org www.adpost.com www.backpage.com or www.live.com I have many more for you; I will list later.

Start with www.Craigslist.org you can list for Free all over the World. Start locally, hold a garage sale or promote your existing website, blog or ecommerce.

Do you homework, see what the competition is listing and what their layout is like.

Warning: Your competitors will "Flag" you. This means they will simple click on the "flag" link and get your listing off Craigslist. Anyone can do this. So, my advice do not feel bad. Just relist it. You will find that it will be good practice for you.

Also, if you are selling Furniture, list in other categories as well. Check out the "wanted" link and "General" links.

Listing on craigslist you will need:
1)A Catchy title - *This will be picked up by the search engines, Use Keywords
2) Price
3) Location - now, you can list your City (You can allow local pick up) or list your web address. Listing your web address is great. If you get "flagged" the listing will not be visible to your audience. However, it will take up to an hour for the listing to be removed from Craigslist. This means exposure for you. If the buyer cannot see the listing the chances are pretty good they will check out your web address.

** Alexa.com and Quantcast.com is a good place to check the rankings of any website. This will help you determine where you should place your ad.

Think of a catchy user ID name as it can be used to know you as a business. If you enjoy the experience you should considering checking out if the website name is available. You can check at www.register.com for domain names or www.godaddy.com

8 vs 1 ??? What are we waiting for? We need anger management classes to become part of the curriculum at all schools (Public & Private) and levels. I am sure we have all been bullied one way or another. It does not get better as you age. We must teach our children from infancy on how to cope and react to situation of pressure. Columbine should had been an awakening. I ask that everyone that cares to write to your school district, to congress, Blog about it. This is a sensitive subject and we should all help. We need to implement class to teach tolerance. What happened to simple courtesy??? Those kids are lucky the victim did not die. The horror she will live from now on...

Start Selling What You Have at Home

A good way to start is finding an auction site. eBay is always the first auction site that comes to mind. Of course eBay is the heavy weight champion in this category. They have the membership to support the exposure you can get.

So let's say you want to start selling on ebay. Gather the following information:

1) Open a Sellers Account*
2) If you do not have an office for mail; open a PO Box.**
3) Email address that you can dedicate solely to your new business
4) Phone number***
5) Paypal Account / Merchant Account
6) Delivery Service
7) Shipping Supplies
8) Plan ahead - email database

* ebay offers you a Business and Personal account option. (Opt for business one).

**PO Box - You are dealing with people you never met. 90% of the are awesome. You can run into those that might think you have a physical location and stop by. This is not appealing to me. Unless, you have a physical location. Then you should list your business address. Selling on eBay and listing your address can potentially drive a lot of traffic your way.

***If you are starting from home I recommend you get an extra line, you can use your cell phone or check out Yahoo. For a minimal $2.00-3.00 you can have a dedicate PC phone line for your customers. No one will know the difference.

What are you selling? Have you purchased on eBay before? If so, then you have an idea on how to compare the pricing.
This is the same idea you can apply to selling.
Check the competition- What is their start price? What is their shipping fee? What category are they listing in? Do you see any time patterns? etc.....

Take good images of your item.
Provide a detailed description.

Recently, several friends of mines lost their jobs. A couple of them where teachers for the Los Angeles Unified School District. It is hard when people close to you are struggling and are educated. Well, that's when I starting thinking. How can I help them? The light bulb turned on! Teach them to start their own online business. I am new to blogging, but have found this to be fun. Since I always have something to say I figure I can have a larger audience online.

My top three ways to make money online:
1) Sell what you have at home.
2) Resell
3) or start blogging
of course, it would be easier to do One and Three. I will provide you with the steps to create your own online business and with tips on how to market yourself for no money. Seriously, you can start this tonight and start making money in a few hours. (I have many more ideas for you to make money; but I want to start you with the NO MONEY needed steps)

Needed? The will to work. Do not think that selling or marketing online is easy. Not at all. You will get what you put into it.
